Long-term care nursing facilities must provide residents or their designated representatives with written notice at admission informing them of their option to hire an attorney for Medicaid long-term care benefit applications

The required notice must warn that nonlegal services (including hospital and nursing facility affiliates) cannot provide legal advice, may have conflicts of interest, and are not obligated to advise applicants of their rights

Facilities must obtain signed acknowledgment of the notice, provide it separately from resident agreements, and prominently display it in office and admission areas

The Department of Human Services must post the notice on its public website in multiple languages and formats

Takes effect immediately upon enactment
