Schools must adopt policies to notify parents, guardians, or custodial parents in a timely manner when students are involved in reportable safety incidents or incur serious injuries on school property, school buses, or at school activities

Notification may be made in person, by telephone, email, text message, or certified mail, with schools required to use the parent's preferred contact method when possible

Schools must maintain current contact information for all parents and provide training to all staff who work with children on recognizing incidents that trigger notification and following proper procedures

Parents of both perpetrators and victims of incidents must be notified under these requirements

The Secretary of Education may withhold state payments from school entities that fail to comply, and the act takes effect 60 days after enactment
