District attorneys must assemble and lead investigation teams independent from the involved police department when a police officer's use of force results in a death

Members of the involved police department are prohibited from participating in the investigation unless specifically requested by the district attorney in a limited capacity

Investigations must be completed within 90 days, or within 12 months if referred to an investigating grand jury

Investigation findings must be published on the district attorney's website, and a public meeting must be held within 7 days of the deadly force incident

District attorneys may prosecute, refer to a grand jury, or refer to the Attorney General; referrals require a detailed public report within 7 days explaining the incident and reasons for declining prosecution
