Licensed funeral directors, funeral entities, and cemetery companies must notify the county director of veterans affairs within 96 hours of receiving the remains of a deceased serviceperson who had legal residence in that county

Funeral providers must also give the deceased serviceperson's family contact information for the county director of veterans affairs

Cemetery companies are only subject to this notification requirement when they provide interment for cremated remains where no licensed funeral director or funeral entity provided goods or services

The act amends Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes by adding Section 705.1 on burial benefits

The act takes effect 60 days after enactment
