Requires physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, certified registered nurse practitioners, and licensed practical nurses to complete at least 10 hours of continuing education on alcohol and other drug addiction for license renewal, beginning November 1, 2025

Mandated education topics include early warning signs of addiction identification, referral skills, training on "warm handoff" procedures for transferring patients from emergency care to substance use disorder treatment, and appropriate use of support groups for affected individuals and families

The State Board of Medicine, State Board of Nursing, and State Board of Osteopathic Medicine must implement and enforce the continuing education program as part of existing renewal requirements

Exemptions apply to licensees with temporary training licenses and retired licensees who only provide care to immediate family members

Licensing boards may grant waivers for serious illness, military service, or other demonstrated hardship upon written request with documentation
