Pennsylvania Senate resolution honors former President Jimmy Carter (1924-2024), the 39th U.S. President who served from January 20, 1977 to January 20, 1981

Carter's major presidential accomplishments included the Camp David Accords (Egypt-Israel peace treaty), SALT II nuclear arms treaty with the Soviet Union, creation of the Departments of Education and Energy, and expansion of the National Park System

After leaving office, Carter and wife Rosalynn founded The Carter Center in 1982, leading international campaigns to eradicate diseases, reduce hunger, and mediate conflicts

Carter received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 and spent decades volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, including building homes in Philadelphia in 1988

Carter died December 29, 2024, at age 100, becoming the oldest-living President in U.S. history; the resolution extends condolences to his family
