Approximately 12% of Pennsylvania's population lives in poverty, more than 15,000 people are homeless, and 1,710,480 people face hunger

National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week has been sponsored for over 25 years by the National Coalition for the Homeless and National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness, originating at Villanova University in 1975

Identifies lack of affordable housing, inadequate funding for homeless services, and lack of affordable sustainable food as contributing factors to hunger and homelessness

Calls for increased awareness and action at federal, state, and local levels to address these issues
