Rhode Island House of Representatives celebrates Funda Fest 28, running January 13-25, 2026, and recognizes RI Black Storytellers (RIBS), a nonprofit founded in 1998

RIBS promotes awareness, appreciation, and application of Black storytelling through performance, educational, and cultural experiences throughout Rhode Island

Funda Fest has reached over 120,000 people since its inception, featuring international, national, regional, and local artists across seven statewide public performances during the two-week celebration

"Funda" is a South African Zulu word meaning "to learn" or "to teach," reflecting the festival's mission to preserve and share Black history, values, and traditions through storytelling

Secretary of State directed to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to RI Black Storytellers
