Rhode Island House of Representatives expresses condolences on the passing of Barbara Balch Colt, a feminist, activist, and community leader who was married to Timothy Pickering Colt for 67 years

Served on the Warwick City Council from 1972-1976, representing a mostly Republican ward as the only woman on the council, earning recognition as the council's "Fiscal Watchdog"

Advocated for women's rights, reproductive freedom, and LGBTQ+ rights through leadership roles including President of Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island and board member of the 2:1 Coalition to Preserve Choice

Served as Executive Director of Rhode Island Community Health Centers and helped create the Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island; also served on boards of Women's Development Corporation, Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council, and Butler Hospital

Secretary of State directed to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Mr. Timothy Pickering Colt and family
