Repeals Rhode Island General Laws Chapter 39-26.6, "The Renewable Energy Growth Program," in its entirety effective January 1, 2027

The program being eliminated provides tariff-based, performance-based incentives for distributed renewable energy generation projects up to 300 MW annually through 2033

Eliminates the framework for solar projects (small-scale up to 25 KW through large-scale up to 39 MW on preferred sites), wind, and other renewable distributed generation technologies

Removes protections for core forests (unfragmented forest blocks of 250+ acres) that prohibited renewable projects in those areas unless on preferred sites

Introduced by Representatives Chippendale, Newberry, Nardone, Place, Santucci, J. Brien, Quattrocchi, Hopkins, and Fascia on January 21, 2026 and referred to House Corporations
