Proclaims January 27, 2026 as "Rhode Island Food Insecurity Awareness Day"

34% of Rhode Island households are unable to meet basic food needs, with disproportionate impact on communities of color: 58% of Latino households, 50% of Black households, and 27% of white households are food insecure

Rhode Island Community Food Bank distributed 18.5 million pounds of food through 147 member agencies in fiscal year 2025, serving an average of 85,000 individuals monthly (5% increase from prior year)

Food Bank will spend $7 million on food acquisition in fiscal year 2026 to meet high demand driven by rising food prices, housing costs, and end of COVID-19 relief programs

Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Governor Daniel J. McKee
