All teacher certifications held as of July 1, 2026 would be automatically extended for 3 or 5 years without fee or penalty, including emergency certifications with conditions

RIDE would waive all initial teacher certification application fees and Praxis examination fees for the 3-year period from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029

Teachers with valid Rhode Island certification and at least 3 years of certified teaching experience could acquire additional certifications through examination or content coursework

RIDE must revise licensure rules to create multiple pathways for teacher and administrator certification, including credit for non-traditional classes, work/life experience, and competency-based course waivers
