Repeals Rhode Island General Laws Section 9-19-34.1, which has been in effect since January 1, 1987, governing the collateral source rule in medical malpractice cases

Eliminates the provision that allowed defendants (physicians, hospitals, clinics, HMOs, dentists, dental hygienists) to introduce evidence of insurance benefits received by plaintiffs to reduce damage awards

Removes the requirement for juries to reduce malpractice awards by the difference between total insurance benefits received and premiums paid by the plaintiff

Introduced by Representatives Craven and Shanley on February 12, 2026, and referred to House Judiciary Committee

Takes effect immediately upon passage
