Allows Rhode Island residents 18+ with a terminal condition (expected death within 6 months) to request physician-prescribed medication to hasten death through self-administration

Requires a multi-step process: two oral requests at least 15 days apart, a written request with two witnesses, confirmation by a second physician, and evaluation for impaired judgment if needed

Physicians must wait at least 48 hours after the final request before writing the prescription and must file a report with the Department of Health documenting compliance

Provides immunity from civil, criminal, and professional liability for physicians and others acting in good faith compliance; healthcare providers have no duty to participate

Healthcare facilities may prohibit the practice on their premises, and life insurance benefits cannot be denied for actions taken under this law
