Rhode Island House of Representatives congratulates the U.S. Navy Seabees on their 84th anniversary, celebrated March 5, 2026

Seabees were created in 1942 at Davisville, Rhode Island by Rear Admiral Ben Morrell to build and maintain overseas military bases during World War II

More than 350,000 Seabees served during WWII, constructing piers, hospitals, airfields, and housing across every theater of operations including Europe, North Africa, China, Burma, and the Pacific

Seabees have continued serving in all modern U.S. conflicts including the Korean War, Vietnam, and Middle East engagements

Resolution directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy to Rear Admiral Bradley J. Andros, Commander of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command
