Rhode Island Senate resolution expressing condolences on the passing of George G. Cournoyer of Blackstone, Massachusetts, formerly of North Smithfield, who was born in Woonsocket in 1937

Cournoyer graduated from Mount St. Charles Academy and Bryant College, pursuing a career in accounting and finance, and served on the North Smithfield Planning Board

His economic policy proposal for increasing the national savings rate and reducing the federal deficit drew attention from President Reagan's Economic Policy Advisory Board and Nobel Laureate Franco Modigliani

Survived by four children (Madonna, Gregory, James, and Jeffrey), six grandchildren, one great-grandson, and several siblings

Directs the Secretary of State to transmit certified copies of the resolution to his children
