Rhode Island National Guard members in good standing may now allocate their state-sponsored tuition assistance benefits to their dependents (immediate family members enrolled in DEERS)

Tuition assistance covers up to 5 courses per semester at any Rhode Island state college or university, with basic tuition or general fees waived

Dependents using the benefit must remain students in good standing and the National Guard member must maintain satisfactory participation in all unit training assemblies and annual training periods

Service obligation requires one year of Rhode Island National Guard service for each 12 course credits or four 3-credit courses used by either the member or their dependent

Dependents must repay a pro-rata share of assistance if they withdraw from courses, fail to complete coursework, or if the National Guard member fails to meet service obligations
