Rhode Island Senate expresses condolences on the passing of Anthony DeLuca, who emigrated from Naples, Italy at age nine and settled in Providence

Served as an educator for over 30 years in Cranston Public Schools, teaching Italian and Spanish, heading Foreign Language Departments at Cranston West High School and Western Hills Middle School, and receiving a Fulbright Scholarship to study Italian literature

Served 8 years on Cranston City Council including as Council President, and 6 years in the Rhode Island House of Representatives (1981-1986); also served in the Rhode Island National Guard

Advocated for same-sex marriage equality with his wife Sylvia, including testifying in favor of the 2013 Rhode Island bill legalizing same-sex marriage as a member of Rhode Island Catholics for Marriage Equality

Secretary of State directed to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Mrs. Sylvia DeLuca and family
