Increases monthly minimum death benefits for surviving spouses, domestic partners, and former spouses of deceased teachers under the Teachers' Retirement system

New benefit amounts by deceased member's highest annual salary:

• $17,000 or less: increased from $825 to $1,025/month
• $17,001-$25,000: increased from $963 to $1,200/month
• $25,001-$33,000: increased from $1,100 to $1,375/month
• $33,001-$40,000: increased from $1,238 to $1,550/month
• $40,001 and over: increased from $1,375 to $1,725/month

Adds provision for yearly adjustment of base benefit and cost-of-living adjustment tied to annual Social Security adjustment
