Fines for failure to file campaign finance reports with the Board of Elections would be assessed against the candidate when a candidate fails to file, and against the chairperson of the political action committee or political party committee in all other instances

Maximum fine the Board of Elections may assess is capped at $1,000 for any single report that is not filed or filed late

Initial late filing penalty remains at $25, with an additional $2 per day penalty after failing to file within 7 days of receiving a certified mail non-compliance notice

Board of Elections retains authority to waive late filing fines for good cause shown and may suspend a delinquent filer's campaign finance account

Act takes effect upon passage
