Rhode Island Senate resolution expressing condolences to the family of Charles J. Laranjo, a lifelong Newport resident

Laranjo graduated from Rogers High School in 1953, earned a Bachelor's degree from Central Connecticut State University in 1959 and a Master's in Education from Bridgewater State University in 1964, then taught Industrial Arts at Thompson Junior High School until retiring in 1990

Served in numerous civic organizations including as Treasurer and President of the Portuguese American Federation, Grand Knight of the Newport Council Knights of Columbus, and Chairman of the Newport Democratic City Committee for 30 years

Life Member and Past Commodore of the Newport Yacht Club, where he led the club's first expansion and started the Junior Sail program

Secretary of State directed to transmit certified copies of the resolution to the Laranjo family
