Honors Officer Matthew Hare, an Easley Police Department officer who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train on August 2, 2023, while attempting to save a woman threatening self-harm on railroad tracks

Officer Hare was 22 years old and had graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy only five months before his death

Officer Hare was inducted into the South Carolina Law Enforcement Hall of Fame in 2024 for his bravery and heroism

Directs the Department of Transportation to erect appropriate signs or markers along the designated highway portion
