Requires individuals seeking appointment as a guardian ad litem in private family court cases to undergo a criminal history background check conducted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division prior to each appointment

Places the cost of each criminal background check on the individual seeking appointment as guardian ad litem

Mandates that guardians ad litem include a copy of their SLED criminal history background check with the affidavit submitted to the court and parties upon appointment

Maintains existing disqualifications for individuals convicted of crimes against persons, offenses against morality and decency, criminal domestic violence, narcotics offenses, or contributing to the delinquency of a minor

Takes effect upon approval by the Governor
