Alimony may only be awarded to the spouse with lesser income

Maximum annual alimony amount is capped at 17% of the difference between the higher and lower wage earner's annual incomes

Alimony duration cannot exceed the number of months the parties were married

Courts may deviate from these limitations (including awarding higher amounts, longer duration, or payments to the higher-earning spouse) if clear and convincing evidence shows the formula would be inequitable
