Amends South Carolina's assault and battery law (Section 16-3-600) to classify assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature when a healthcare worker or emergency response employee is injured during or because of performing their official duties

Creates felony charges for assaulting healthcare workers and emergency response employees as defined in Section 44-29-230, punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment

Expands the existing assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature statute, which previously only applied to cases involving great bodily injury or acts likely to produce death or great bodily injury

Includes a savings clause preserving pending actions and rights under prior law

Takes effect upon the Governor's approval
