Acknowledges the Catawba Indian Nation as the federally recognized tribe in South Carolina, along with numerous state-recognized tribes, groups, and organizations including the Pee Dee Indian Nation, Santee Indian Organization, and Waccamaw Indian People

References the establishment of the Native American Affairs Ad Hoc Committee in 2001, which led to the Native American Affairs Initiative within the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs

Notes that Indigenous Peoples' Day was first proposed in 1977 at a United Nations conference on discrimination against indigenous populations

Takes effect upon approval by the Governor
