South Carolina would ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution, prohibiting denial or abridgment of equality of rights under the law on account of sex

The proposed constitutional amendment would apply to both the federal government and all states

Congress would have enforcement power to implement the amendment through appropriate legislation

The amendment would take effect two years after ratification

Upon enactment, certified copies must be sent to the Archivist of the United States, the President of the U.S. Senate, and the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives
