Expands the definition of "assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature" to include any injury to law enforcement officers, corrections officers, firefighters, or EMS workers during or because of their official duties

Applies to federal, state, and local law enforcement officers, as well as county and municipal corrections officers

Persons convicted of this offense face up to 20 years imprisonment as a felony

Current law requires great bodily injury or means likely to produce death/great bodily injury; the new provision removes that threshold for attacks on specified public servants
