Charter schools must give enrollment preference to students who attended the school the previous year, excluding them from lottery requirements

Schools may give enrollment preference to siblings of current or former students (who attended at least one full academic year within the last six years), children of school employees or charter committee members (capped at 20% of total enrollment), and dependents of active-duty military members (capped at 10% of enrollment)

Charter schools on federal military installations may give additional enrollment priority to dependents of military personnel living on base or stationed there, up to 50% of total enrollment

Students qualifying for multiple enrollment preferences may only be enrolled under one preference at the school's discretion; those denied a preference due to caps must be allowed to participate in the enrollment lottery

Alternative Education Campus charter schools may give mission-aligned preference to educationally disadvantaged students as defined in their charter and approved by their sponsor
