Recognizes and honors Larry Ford of Charleston for his distinguished career as an American musician and entertainer

Larry Ford was born July 2, 1955, in Charleston to Reverend Clarence Ford and Mildred Ford, with early musical influences from his church-singing mother and piano-playing father

Ford studied clarinet and earned a competitive music scholarship to South Carolina State College, later studying electronics at DeVry Institute and music at Georgia State University

Performed as keyboardist with funk band Early Warning System, toured Japan for five months with Atlanta Connection, and toured with Brothers Cornelius and Sister Rose

Currently serves as organist for Johns Island Parish, performs with various bands at Charleston restaurants, and released his debut solo album "A New Reality" produced at Sun River Studios
