Members of the South Carolina House of Representatives and Senate would be limited to 12 years of total service in the General Assembly, whether in one chamber or both combined

Prior service before the act's effective date would not count toward the 12-year limit

The term limits provision only takes effect upon ratification of a constitutional amendment to Article III, Section 7 authorizing the legislature to impose term limits by statute

House members would receive $2,500 per month in-district compensation effective January 1, 2027

Senate members would receive $2,500 per month in-district compensation effective January 1, 2029
