Adams began her career in 1984 as an internal auditor for the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation and held various positions including assistant state treasurer, director of administration for the Department of Agriculture, and assistant comptroller general

Served on State Treasurer Curtis M. Loftis Jr.'s transition team and rejoined the State Treasurer's Office as deputy state treasurer in 2011, becoming chief of staff in 2014

Holds a bachelor's degree in accounting, an MBA, certification as a public manager, and a certificate in public treasury management from Pepperdine School of Business

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to Clarissa Adams
