Reduces the South Carolina Judicial Merit Selection Commission from twelve members to ten members, with all members now appointed by the Governor

Eliminates previous appointment structure that divided selections among the Speaker of the House (4 members), Senate leadership (4 members), and Governor (4 members)

Prohibits appointment of anyone who contributed to the Governor's most recent campaign or served as a General Assembly member within five years before appointment

Bars active practicing attorneys who are General Assembly members from serving on the commission

Commission members serve two-year terms with a maximum of two consecutive terms; act takes effect upon Governor's approval
