Hotels, inns, boardinghouses, motor courts, and motels in South Carolina are prohibited from charging transactional fees when guests pay with cash or check

"Transactional fee" is defined as a fee covering costs associated with maintaining payment infrastructure, including interchange fees and assessment fees

The prohibition applies to any lodging establishment where beds or lodging are offered for hire

Adds new Section 45-1-100 to Chapter 1, Title 45 of the South Carolina Code of Laws

Takes effect upon approval by the Governor
