Delorice B. Barrington is retiring as Marlboro County Treasurer after serving 34 years in that position and more than 50 years total in public service to South Carolina

Her public service began in 1969 as a bus driver for Marlboro County School District before rising to County Treasurer

She overcame childhood polio and numerous surgeries, personally walking door-to-door across the county during every election campaign

She holds an associate degree in general business, supervisory management certification, and completed financial management training through the University of South Carolina with 18 hours of annual continuing education

She provided statewide leadership through the SC Auditors, Treasurers and Tax Collectors Association, served on DMV and Department of Revenue committees, and chaired the Forfeited Land Commission for 25 years
