Ernest Gene Brown Sr., MPH, retired on August 8, 2025, after 33 years as CEO of North Central Family Medicine, a Federally Qualified Health Center he established in Rock Hill in 1992.

Under his leadership, North Central Family Medicine grew to include four medical facilities in York and Chester counties with 125 full-time employees, offering primary care, pharmacy, and behavioral health services.

Brown served four years in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman and earned degrees from North Carolina Central University and UNC Chapel Hill/Charlotte in health administration and educational administration.

Prior to his CEO role, he spent 12 years in health planning establishing rural health clinics across 29 counties in eastern North Carolina and taught for 20 years as an associate professor at Clinton College in Rock Hill.

The South Carolina House of Representatives formally honors Brown for his dedicated service and wishes him success in retirement.
