South Carolina House Resolution expressing sorrow upon the death of Dr. Everett Lloyd Dargan, who passed away on April 1, 2025, at age ninety-five

Dr. Dargan was born July 30, 1929, in Columbia, attended Morehouse College at fifteen, earned his medical degree from Howard University in 1953, and served as a U.S. Air Force captain during the Korean War

First African American surgeon to serve as chief of surgery and chief of staff at Richland Memorial Hospital; held faculty position at University of South Carolina School of Medicine from 1979 until retirement in 2004

Received the Order of the Palmetto in 2005 (South Carolina's highest civilian honor) and was named a USC Luminary Leader in Medicine and Science in 2021

Resolution directs that a copy be presented to Dr. Dargan's family
