Thomas Sumter Academy boys cross country team won the 2025 SCISA 3A Cross Country State Championship on November 1, 2025, at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, marking the first state title in program history

The team tied with Spartanburg Christian at 53 points, with the championship decided by the sixth runner; eighth grader Connor Van Osterom's 20th place finish secured the victory for Thomas Sumter

All seven runners finished in the top 22 and set personal records by more than a minute, with top finishers including junior Nate Livingston (4th, 17:48.75) and freshman Ashton Pierce (5th, 18:12.81)

The roster consists almost entirely of underclassmen, including freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and one eighth grader, positioning the team to defend their title with a fully returning roster

The South Carolina House of Representatives formally recognizes and honors the team and Head Coach Rob Coursey for their achievement
