South Carolina House Resolution honors Reverend Dr. Thomas Reginald "Regi" Thackston upon his retirement after decades of gospel ministry and public service across the state

Dr. Thackston graduated from Wofford College in 1956, earned his divinity degree from Emory University's Candler School of Theology in 1961, and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Wofford College in 1995

Served seven churches across South Carolina from 1956 to 1997, and led "Boat Church" (Santee Summer Ministries) for 25 consecutive summers since 1999

Initiated community programs including Conway's first biracial committee for peaceful school integration and a prisoner reentry program in Horry County providing clothing, transportation, food, and job assistance

Received the Alston Wilkes Society Volunteer of the Year award in November 2024 and the Governor's Lifetime of Service Award in February 2025 for his work in education, reentry programs, and racial reconciliation
