Commemorates the Honorable Daniel Bird (Byrd), a former South Carolina House member born April 23, 1844, who served Fairfield County during Reconstruction

Bird was a member of Wallace House, organized on November 28, 1876, by Confederate General William Wallace during the contested legislative session that supported Governor Wade Hampton's Democratic faction

Purchased 81 acres of land on December 15, 1869, and 101 acres on December 1, 1881, in the Greenbriar community of Fairfield County as a businessman and farmer

Assisted in acquiring land for Blackjack Baptist Church and other Fairfield County churches with the intent of establishing a school, and served as a deacon at Blackjack Baptist Church

Bird passed away on August 6, 1917, and the resolution directs that a copy be presented to his family
