Lieutenant Lansing P. "Pete" Logan of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division passed away on December 17, 2025, at age 90, after more than 60 years in law enforcement

Served with the FBI before joining SLED in 1989, working notable cases including the Selma bombings, the JFK assassination investigation, and obtaining Susan Smith's confession to drowning her two sons

Instrumental in developing the South Carolina State Grand Jury from its 1989 inception, with the SGJ Conference Room named in his honor in 2021

Received the Strom Thurmond Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement (1987), the Order of the Palmetto from Governor Henry McMaster (2018), and the SLED Chief's Award (2021)

Resolution extends sympathy to his wife of over 50 years, Fairey Belle Logan, and directs that a copy be presented to the family
