Worked 37 years at Moncrief Army Community Hospital in food service, earning Federal Employee of the Year recognition in 1976, 1978, 1980, 1981, and 1982

Served over 15 years on the Fairfield County school board, was among the first Black notaries public in Fairfield County, and helped facilitate voter registration and school integration

Co-founded the Jenkinsville Water Company in the 1960s, served as chairman for 12 years, and helped establish the Jenkinsville Fire Department
