South Carolina House Resolution recognizes and welcomes Reverend Dr. William Joseph Barber II, President of Repairers of the Breach, during his visit to the state on January 16-17, 2026

Bishop Barber holds degrees from North Carolina Central University, Duke University (Master of Divinity), and Drew University (doctorate in Public Policy and Pastoral Care), along with twelve honorary doctorates

He served as senior pastor of Greenleaf Christian Church for thirty years, president of the North Carolina NAACP from 2006-2017, and is architect of the Forward Together Moral Movement and Moral Monday protests

Bishop Barber co-chairs the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, founded Repairers of the Breach in 2015, and serves as founding director of the Center for Public Theology and Public Policy at Yale Divinity School

He delivered a keynote address at the 2016 Democratic National Convention and gave the homily at the 59th Inaugural Prayer Service for President Biden and Vice President Harris
