Interstate Highway 73 would provide Horry County its first interstate access, with an estimated economic impact of $3.6 billion and support for approximately 20,528 jobs by 2040

The highway would offer motorists an average 33% time savings, resulting in up to $172 million in cost savings by 2040, and boost regional tourism volume by 6.8% ($548.4 million)

The Trump administration issued a federal construction permit in June 2017, and successfully defended the permit against legal challenges in federal court

The resolution passed the House Invitations and Memorial Resolutions Committee with a majority favorable report on March 4, 2026
