Amends South Carolina Code Section 16-3-600(B) to expand the definition of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature to include injuring a corrections officer while they are performing official duties or because of their official duties

Covers corrections officers at state, county, and municipal levels under the enhanced protection

Maintains the existing felony penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature

Takes effect upon Governor's approval
