Cardinal Newman School wrestling team won the 2026 South Carolina Independent School Association State Championship with a 54-22 victory over Ben Lippen, marking their third consecutive state title

The team trailed 23-12 before taking control, with Luke Gjoklaj (175 lbs) and Ethan Ash (190 lbs) securing key pins to give Cardinal Newman a 25-23 lead

The Cardinals won the final five matches, clinching the title on L.J. Murphy's win by decision with two matches remaining

Additional winning wrestlers included Ken Clark (215), Sami Touma (285), Carter Lirgg (113), Eli Lorang (120), Triston Johnson (138), Cooper Smythe (144), and Shayne Ross (150)
