Kindred Hearts of South Carolina (KHSC) is a nonprofit kinship navigator program founded by Dr. Kimberly Janha and Kayla Mallett to support caregivers raising relatives' children

The organization helps kinship caregivers (grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other relatives) navigate systems and access resources for families both inside and outside the child protective services system

Pilot programs launched in 2019 in five counties: Clarendon, Dorchester, Laurens, Marlboro, and Richland, covering both rural and urban areas

KHSC hosts summits focused on prevention and awareness for parents, kinship caregivers, foster parents, educators, and community stakeholders across South Carolina's 46 counties

The South Carolina House of Representatives formally recognizes and honors KHSC for its comprehensive support of kinship caregivers and efforts to ensure safe, healthy living environments
