Gary L. Stooksbury is retiring as Chief Executive Officer of Aiken Electric Cooperative after 30 years of service (since 1995), with retirement effective at the end of February 2026.

Stooksbury holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from Bristol University, and previously served as CEO of the LaFollette Utilities Board in Tennessee.

He served on multiple boards including the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative, Central Electric Power Cooperative, Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, and South Carolina Power Team, and also serves as President and CEO of AEConnect, an internet subsidiary.

Stooksbury was named 2024 Man of the Year by the Aiken Chamber of Commerce and has been married to his wife Kathy for 44 years, with two children.

The South Carolina General Assembly expresses gratitude for his distinguished service and extends best wishes for his retirement through this concurrent resolution.
