Recognizes and honors Sergeants Hunter Ruff, Daniel McCown, and Stephen Earwood of the Anderson County Sheriff's Office for receiving the South Carolina Sheriffs' Association 2024 Medal of Valor on April 23, 2025

On May 8, 2024, the sergeants rescued Bennett Dornellas, a child who had been kidnapped by his father and left trapped in a burning vehicle that was abandoned during a police pursuit on Interstate 85 into Georgia

Sergeant Ruff entered the burning vehicle through the driver's window to locate the child, Sergeant Earwood pulled both from the vehicle, and Sergeant McCown administered critical first aid for severe burns

The sergeants transported Bennett to meet LifeFlight on Interstate 85 when EMS could not arrive in time; flight medics and doctors stated Bennett would not have survived without their actions
