Changes school district board of trustees authority from optional ("may") to mandatory ("shall") regarding policies for excusing students to attend religious instruction classes conducted by private entities

Students may be excused for religious instruction only with written parental consent, and the sponsoring entity must maintain attendance records available to the public school

Transportation and liability for excused students are the complete responsibility of the sponsoring entity, parent, or guardian, with no public funds or school personnel involved in providing religious instruction

Students cannot be released from core academic subject classes for religious instruction and must make up any missed schoolwork; attendance at religious instruction does not count as an absence from school
